"A friend of mine loaned me a book about a man named Bill Arp who lived back in Bascomb's time, who once wrote a letter to Abraham Lincoln explaining why Georgia boys probably were not going to join up to defend the Union. Seems Old Bill was a real funny feller. Now you don't suppose my friend Fred was trying to tell me something about political humor, do you? After all, if you are going to call yourself a cowboy, then you must have at least had to ride a horse at some time or another."
