DATELINE July 10, 2013:
"Headlines"
By: Scoop Biggers
I was reading the Atlanta newspaper the other day, which is not as good as the Nankipooh Enquirer, but it does have a lot of news about what's going on in the world, and in the good old USA. Of course most of it is not as interesting as the horse-shoe contest every Thursday at the Biggers General Store, down there in Nankipooh. There are though, some pretty important things going on these days, and here are a few of the headlines:
"Senate passes Immigration Reform Bill"
"Supreme Court rules on Voting Rights Act"
"Civil war in Syria becoming regional conflict"
"Supreme Court rules on same sex marriages"
"Unrest turns to violence in Egypt"
"President make historic trip to Senegal"
Excuse me, but what is the President doing in Senegal ? With all of the turmoil going on about him, he takes a trip to a second rate country in Africa for a photo-op. Now that's what I call leadership! Does it bother anyone that none of these headlines have anything to do with our country sinking further in debt every day, than the Titanic in a sea full of icebergs? This, coupled with the fact that our government seems to be distracted by any issue which does not focus on reducing the deficit and balancing the budget, is all starting to make me worry. I was just wondering if anybody else felt the same. Pay attention America, don't take your eye off of the ball!
